Microsoft Announces The Surface Tablet Series

Tech:

Microsoft may be late to the game but do they have a winning product?

Yesterday Microsoft announced their entry into the market of tablets with their new product; Surface.

Microsoft is set to release two models of Surface called Microsoft Surface Tablet, and Microsoft Surface Pro. Although the Microsoft Surface tablet is exciting, the Microsoft Surface Pro is prettier on the eyes packing Windows 8 Pro Operating System and a more powerful processor powered by Intel Core i5. Below you can check out the side by side comparisons between the two models.

Though the press event was full of information regarding the specs regarding the Surface tablets, we were given very little information regarding the price tag and the release date for Microsoft's new direction. What we do know is that we will have to wait for Windows 8 release date in October to occur before we can see these products in our hands.

The video below gives us more of an aesthetic look towards the new Surface Tablet. With Surface running under Microsoft and the customization of the the colored keyboards and the addition of the kickstand I can see this tablet being more of an alternative for laptops (for college students) than the iPad.

I guess we will just have to wait and see if Microsoft's late arrival to the tablet market can really pay off. Until then cue the Ohh's and Ahh's as I am sure we will be flooded with Surface promo videos....Like this one...

Project Glass: Google's Augmented Reality Glasses

Tech:

Ever think that augmented reality was a far stretch if not impossibility, well it may be apart of your everyday life by this time next year.

Leave it to Google to create the coolest product known to man. Google just announced that they will be testing their newest project out in public. The project called Project Glass is a pair of glasses (viewed above) that displays images as if they are floating in thin air. Seems like a SciFi movie huh?

The capabilities of these glasses are not fully known, however what we do know is that they will allow you to use anything from Google Maps, to Google+, with other capabilities like Text Messages, Phone Calls,  and Video Chat. There may be even more capabilities in the near future now that the project has been announced to the public. The developers/inventors at Google are asking people to stay in touch with the project so Google can get more ideas on how to improve this technology.

“We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input,” Says one of the developers. Project Glass will revolutionize not only the tech world but the way everyone will live our lives.

Project Glass is still in it's testing stage, but now it is no secret. Their were rumors that Google was working on a project like this but it was never released to the public. Now that the news is out, it is more promising that this project may be a great success.

Check out the video below to get a sneak peak/idea of what Project Glass may be capable of doing.

What If Facebook Was Created In The 90's?

Humor: Tech:

What if Facebook was invented in the 90's? Based off of this video let us be thankful that Mark Zuckerberg created the website when he did. This video gives me chills, probably because I never used the internet in the early 90's and did not have to put up with such horrific graphics and terrible operating systems. Attributes like this would would never survive in today's culture.

So let me restate my question....What if Facebook was around during the 90's? Would Facebook still be around today or would it have died out due to lack of technology and capabilities. This is interesting to think about, because in our world today social networking sites like Facebook essentially rule our world.

Facebook tells us who is dating who, when someones birthday is coming up, and who is friends with your friends. But it does not stop there, businesses and organizations are are on Facebook, hell even this website has a Facebook Page. Protests, demonstrations and riots can all be organized to fight back against government through Facebook. It is just crazy how far Facebook has come in just a few short years.

Now that I have you thinking about how far and how fast Facebook has come and ruled our lives, do you think that if Facebook was created in the 90's (20 years ago), then the Facebook we use today would be more complex and social than it already is?

Can Facebook get even more personal with social networking? Will we be able to do online banking, Microsoft Word processing, and read magazines on Facebook? That is just scratching the surface of course, who knows what depths Facebook will enter into our lives one day. Maybe one day we will be able to make babies on Facebook (total extreme and completely impossible, but you get the point).

Or do you think one day Facebook will die out and we will find no use for this social networking/media site again.

Tell us what you think in the NEW Facebook comment box below. Also let us know how freaked out you are once you watch the video. And yes it is funny to watch now, but I would never retract back to those standards of internet browsing.

Temple Run Comes To Android

Tech:

Finally the iPhone game Temple Run has come to Android. Now you will never listen to what your professor has say in class, instead you'll be running as far as you can from those damn monkeys. Yes this is exciting news for all Android users, however the question that I must raise is....Did it come to Android too late?

I mean lets be honest, we have all played Temple Run on all our friend's iPhones and we have seen the game come and go with popularity. This "fad" I feel has trickled across to the Android users as well, and we are saying "Big Whoop" it was yesterdays big game. Now we have Angry Birds Space, which is now the top game to have and it may just over shadow the introduction of Temple Run to Android.

So you be the judge and let us know what you think about Temple Run coming to Android. Did it come too late or will it rise once again to the status it once held?

12 New Spotify Apps Just Waiting To Better Your Music Experiences

Tech: Music:

For those of you currently using Spotify; you know what a great tool and source of music this program offers to your world. For those of you that have no idea what the program is, or you have been reluctant to sign -up and use it....well your simply just missing out with the best way to listen to music. So Sign-Up already!

For those of you who already know about Spotify skip this long drawn-out paragraph and get to the new details.

To give a brief overview of the service, Spotify was first exclusive to only Europe, dating back to 2006. With it's great success across the pond, Spotify was made available to the US this past July. The service operates in a similar manner compared to Grooveshark, however there is more of a social aspect to Spotify, where you and your friends can share tracks and playlists among one another. There are different payment plans that you can choose from while using Spotify. (1) First the one everyone loves; Free. This plan lets you listen to any song or album you want for free. The one downside to free is that you are hit with a radio AD very 4-5 songs. (2) The second plan is Unlimited, which will cost you just under $5/month. This plan gives you unlimited access to all the song you can possibly listen to without the hassle of an AD popping up during your experience. (3) The third plan is call Premium, this costs $9/month (highly worth it if you have a smartphone). You get everything the Unlimited member receives, but you also can travel with your Spotify playlists on the go with your smartphone. I jumped straight to this plan the day it was released in the US and found that it completely made my iPod insignificant. I use Spotify on my phone everyday and the service is fast and easy to use.

Anyways, back to business. Today Spotify released 12 new apps that are definitely worth checking out. These apps are part of Spotify's objective to better service their consumers with their music experiences. This past November Spotify introduced their "App Finder" to the world and found that in just 4 short months, Spotify users spent a total combined time of 1,500 years on spotify apps alone. (This is the only statistical fact released by Spotify regarding their App Finder).

With the first apps introduced back in November I have found some of them to be very useful. The top apps from before that I strongly suggest trying out are Tune Wiki - This App will display the lyrics to the song you are listen to on Spotify at the exact moment they are said. ShareMyPlaylist - This App I have found to be useful while driving, working out, or lounging. The app is a community of people who share and subscribe to user's playlists. This is helpful when you are just too lazy to put together a playlist.  Lastly checkout Billboards Top Charts App, which will give you the top tracks of the week. I find this helpful while trying to keep a group of buddies in a good mood with music everyone knows. (Nothing worse than that anxiety of trying to please everyone with one song)

The New Apps (That were released today) come about from Spotify giving developers the freedom to create some new, well thought-out applications that range from the typical Spotify playlist to new music posted on Twitter apps.

Smartphones: Are They Getting Too Big?

Tech:

Is bigger always better? This question can be swung in two directions when it comes to purchasing a new piece of technology. When I say two directions, I am talking about the purpose that your piece of technology will be used for, and the time frame that you purchased your product.

For instance, you may want the largest possible LCD TV that can fit in your living room, that way you can receive maximum exposure when it comes to watching the big game or a movie. Yet when you are finding a TV for your kitchen you are not going to want to have one that takes up too much space (at least in my own opinion).  This would fall along the the purpose that you will be using your technology.

When I state the time frame when purchasing a product, the example that clearly demonstrates time frame is the size of our iPods. When the iPod first came out  10 years ago they were the size of the classic iPod we see today, yet 2 years later everyone wanted small iPods; iPod Nano (which is even smaller today). Then the introduction of the iPad came about and everyone started to want bigger screens.

So here we are today, and I feel that when we begin to look at the smartphone industry, the general consensus is that the bigger the screen size the better the product. So is bigger really better....in the sense of owning a phone?

This is a question that I have found myself asking regarding my upcoming phone upgrade. I was instantly drawn to the Samsung Galaxy Note when I came across it back in October, and if Verizon offered the Galaxy Note, then I would already own the phone.

I was playing around with the Samsung Galaxy Note just the other day and thought it as the coolest phone on the market (granted I HATE the Samsung stock interface), but then I got to thinking, how the hell would someone be able to carry this phone around in their pocket.

Now I understand that females can carry this phone/tablet around in their handbag but the capabilities that come along with this phone is more for the business person, so no college age, gossip queen, chick will have a purpose with this phone.

So now I find myself in a tight decision where I do not know whether or not to purchase a phone of this magnitude.

Experience Zero Gravity with Zero G: The Best 8 Minute Ride of Your Life!

Tech: Life:

How cool would it be to experience zero gravity? Well the company Zero G will let you experience 8 minutes of zero gravity without even traveling to space. I must say though that this is no Ferris wheel, the ride ticket will not cost you $15, however it is just as ridiculously priced as a carnival ticket.  This is definitely an experience for the rich considering the cost for the coolest 8 minute ride of your life will cost you $5,000.00 (USD) per ride ticket.

Zero G has customized a Boeing 727 as seen above (image) and bellow (video) that will give you the experience of a free fall (or zero gravity) as the plane essentially nose-dives to the earth's crust.  I am thinking of two things while watching this video: (1) This looks like the coolest carnival ride ever and (2) I wonder if these people would be having as much fun as they appear to be having if they just looked out the window to see that they were crashing down to earth in a plane. (Probably that is why there are no windows on this plane)

Anyways with my conflicting views of how cool and terrifying this is, if you are interested and have the money to actually go through with this then check out Zero G's website to set up your appointment. For those who cannot afford this treat, well..... just live vicariously through the people in the video like I have done.

Be sure to check back soon, as we are in the process of updating and overhauling our site to give you all a better user experience. Also there will be more tech and humor post coming with the update. Stay Tuned!
